Are you using article writing to get more website visitors? Your website does need new content and writing articles is a great way to do that. When you add article marketing you have an excellent chance for long term traffic.
A few years ago article directories began popping up all over the place and ordinary people began the difficult task of learning to write articles. Today things have changed.
Article writing is not enough anymore because the quality of many article writers has improved. Plus the way you use your articles to get traffic to your website is different than it was even a couple of years ago.
Now you articles that target specific keyword phrases and are well written. Part of that is writing for search engines. Not the whole article , but a little bit of it. You want to target keywords that are not searched as much. These are words that generally are long and more targeted for the article you want to write.
For example an article on Internet marketing business could now be written around the phrase “start an Internet marketing home business” and you would want those words in the title of the article, in the intro and closing paragraphs, and one time in the body.
You would write your article using variations of that phrase using words like start a business at home on the Internet, or start your home business using the Internet, etc.
This should be done so it sounds natural. Just like you were talking to a friend. Forget about keyword density. I am getting traffic via all kinds of keywords and I do not target keyword density anymore in the articles I personally write.
Now that your article is done you need to do 2 things with it.
1. Post it in you blog and social bookmark the post. You can quickly do that if you have joined Onlywire.com. Even better is to bookmark it to Windows Live, Google Bookmarks, and Yahoo. I also like Digg, Stumbleupon, and Propeller.
2. Submit it to a few quality article directories. Using a service like Submit Your Article is the best way to go especially when you use their Article Leverage Program. If not through them at least manually submit to a few quality directories such as EzineArticles, Idea marketers, Go Articles, and others.
What you are doing is setting up one article to give you traffic from article directories, your blog and RSS feed, social directories, and search engines. When you understand how you can take one article and create long term traffic for maximum website traffic you will want to write on a consistent basis targeting more words.
Someone in your company is going to have to become a good writer. If not that than consider hiring an article writer to do it for you. This will really allow you to combine article writing good seo practices, and blogging to maintain and increase your traffic with very little advertising expense.

SEO is the most frightening and misunderstood word in the vocabulary of the average online marketer because it goes hand in hand with the promises of high rankings, tons of free traffic and countless sales from one side and the fears of being banned on the other. Master SEO and you’ve mastered it all, some might say!
OF course I am deriding with this kind of thinking, but many people adore SEO and SEOers no matter if they admit it or not.
Otherwise how do you explain the fact that so many people are paying thousands of dollars for SEO services when Google says it as clear as this: no one can guarantee top rankings in google results?
After reading this article you will know some very basic SEO rules, you will see there is a lot of work to be done yourself before even think about additional help only in the form of a concrete consultation when the price difference is substantial.
Remember: search engines are indexing web pages and NOT web sites. So, from now on we are talking about web pages.

Let start with the very basic terms and building stones of effective search engine optimization campaign:
On page optimization:
Keyword brainstorming - decide on the topic of your page, of course it must be connected with the site’s overall theme.
Choosing keyword phrase - use keyword suggestion tool and look for three or four words phrase because you don’t want to compete with PR5+ pages with thousands of backllinks.
Web site structure - choose between two or three column layout. I think it’s not bad the first tag in your body tag to be H1 with the key phrase and 100% keyword prominence, don’t you? I mean two column layout with right side menu bar. Don’t go over three levels deep - homepage, category page and article page. Make sure all links in the first and second level are inbound links leading to your article/product page through relevant key phrase link text, where you want your targeted visitors to click on your affiliate or adsense links.
Webpage design and layout - find the best place and style for your heading, adsense, images, lists, white space, color scheme, borders…
Title tag - learn what keyword prominence means - try to place your key phrase in the begging of the title
META description and keyword tags - Google uses the information from the meta description tag - describe the core content of the page and don’t forget to include your key phrase as closer as possible to the beginning. Don’t go over 150 characters or 20-25 words, try to use less stop words: and, at, that, or, be, by, who, what…
Key phrase in the URL - your key phrase must be your file name, dash separated, without stop words, of course. (For urls in Google, I would recommend using dashes. Matt Cutts) - http://www.yoursite.com/category-page/key-phrase.html
Heading tags - H1 to H6 - use them also to divide the blocks of text for easy reading. Don’t stick to the exact key phrase only, use related close words (Google calls it stemming - building additional words by adding a prefix or suffix and using plural)
IMG ALT tag - use the key phrase in the alt tag
Key phrase distribution - don’t over do it, write for your visitors, not for spiders
Styled key phrase in the body - once bolded in the first paragraph and once italicized in another one is enough.
Linking text to the page - forget about ’click here’ and ’read more’, use your key phrase as a link text.
Web page code validation - years ago I made this mistake and for three months my site was not indexed. After researching for possible reasons, I validated my code and with the next googlebot visit, most of my pages were indexed.
Bad keyword practices - hidden (the same color for multiple keywords and the background) text, keyword stuffing, duplicate content, sneaky java redirects, page cloaking, doorway pages - don’t play with the fire.
Off page optimization:
Back links from directories - don’t pay for page rank lower than PR5
Back links from search engines - don’t bother to submit to thousands engines while the important ones are fewer than twenty.
Back links from high Page Rank sites and blogs - THE NAME OF THE GAME - one way organic links. Hint: every marketer loves quality professional content and many webmasters would gladly publish your articles on their sites with the precious one way links back to your site.
Bad link practices - link selling, automatic link exchange, FFA links, link farms…A gentle warning - if you don’t understand what I am talking about, if you don’t know what are these tags, what is domain name, hosting account, FTP file transfer, maybe it’s not the right time to build your own site, it’s time to start learning some basic HTML, CSS, web design, copywriting…
Or you can use some free blogging platform like Blogger or Wordpress to post your articles without any additional SEO and what ever other troubles. But chances to make it online blogging (I mean making some good money out of it) are quite small.
There is NO way to make the whole web business process work without understanding of keywords, linking, niches, web copywriting, traffic sources, rss, autoresponders, affiilaite programs, too many to count…
You see, a lot of work is required to build even five page website properly structured and organized, but this is all doable process.
The ones that get it finished are who will get the checks later and we belong to that group of winners by our choice and persistence.

One way to drive traffic to your eCommerce shopping cart site is by Search Engine Optimisation (SEO). Getting your eCommerce site listed high in search engines such as Google and Yahoo will bring valuable hits to your site. The traffic generated by SEO is normally very targeted, for example if someone searches for ’product x’ and your site come up as the top listing the user that is going to be visiting your site is likely to be very interested purchasing ’product x’.
Structure and Validation
Following the correct HTML (or XHTML) structure on your site is very important. You should make sure you use the correct header, html, body tags etc and use them in the correct order. There are plenty of good article on this around on the internet, the practice is called on page SEO, you just need to make sure that your shopping cart software follows the correct HTML structure. You might be surprised to find that a number of popular internet store solutions are not deployed with valid HTML structure.
SEO Friendly URLs
The structure of the links (or URLs) on your site is important using URL structures that read like
http:///my_category/my_product
as opposed to
http:///?product_id=xsslkjl&cat_id=3424
are generally accepted to increase your search engine rankings. There is much debate about how much this kind of search engine optimisation improves your rankings but the undeniable benefit of this is that when your page appears in search engine listings, the URL is included. If your URL is readable by a human then there is more chance the person is going to click on your link. Search engines also highlight the search terms in bold in the results the more of your listing to can get to appear in bold the better.
Maximise Descriptions
Search Engines deploy software robots to search the internet looking for pages, they are normally referred to as ’Spiders’. Spiders love text, the more and more relevant the text on your site is then higher your chances of getting listed high in search engines is. Make sure your product and category descriptions are as in-depth as they can be, but keep in mind that you’re descriptions are going to be read by people who want to buy the products, so don’t make them full of gibberish just to that there is text for the spiders. Accurate and detailed product descriptions have also been shown to increase the likely hood a customer will make a purchase from your store.
Alternative Descriptions and Titles
Including alternative descriptions and titles for your products is a good idea. If you’re products is called ’The XYZ48882’ then there is a possibility that someone searching for your product might not be aware that it’s called this, especially if it’s a small portable coffee machine. Including alternative more user friendly products titles will help the spiders and then, in-turn, customers find you. It’s a good idea to do some keyword research when choosing alternative descriptions. A keyword research tool will be able to tell you what descriptions people are searching for and give you a good idea which descriptions and titles to choose.
By employing these tips we have no doubt you will be able to increase the search engine traffic that your site generates.
